PDRM rangka cara atasi lumba haram

Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) merangka beberapa strategi bagi mendekati ‘mat rempit’ dalam usaha terbaru untuk menangani segera gejala lumba haram di kalangan remaja yang semakin berleluasa sekarang.
Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Musa Hassan, berkata pendekatan itu termasuk mengadakan program kesedaran, di samping memberi pembelajaran kepada remaja mengenai cara menunggang dengan betul dan berhemah.
Beliau juga meminta masyarakat membantu mencari jalan penyelesaian bagi menangani gejala itu yang disifatkannya sebagai serius kerana banyak kes kemalangan berlaku disebabkan sikap pelumba haram itu.
“Gejala ini bukan saja boleh meragut nyawa pelumba terbabit, malah membahayakan pengguna lain. Ditambah lagi apabila remaja ini sanggup mencabar serta melanggar anggota polis yang bertugas,” katanya ketika merasmikan Forum Gejala Lumba Haram anjuran Cawangan Trafik PDRM di Maktab PDRM, Cheras di sini, semalam.
Forum itu yang dipengerusikan Presiden Pencegahan Jenayah, Kamal Affandi Hashim, dibarisi empat panel termasuk wakil Persatuan Penunggang-Penunggang Motosikal PRO Rider yang juga bekas pelumba negara, Wazi Hamid.
Mengikut statistik, sejak 2001 sehingga Mei lalu 3,182 penunggang ditahan dan 2,970 daripadanya berusia antara 16 hingga 25 tahun.
Musa juga mengingatkan masyarakat, terutama remaja, bahawa gejala itu boleh mencemarkan imej negara di kalangan pelancong asing.
Bercakap kepada pemberita selepas pelancaran alat interkom berkamera atau Sistem Laporan Kecemasan Polis (PERS) pula, Musa berkata, PDRM mensasarkan tujuh atau lima minit untuk bertindak terhadap setiap aduan jenayah yang dilaporkan.
Beliau berkata, ketika ini anggota polis mengambil masa 10 minit untuk sampai ke lokasi kejadian jenayah apabila menerima laporan menerusi talian Rakan Cop atau khidmat pesanan ringkas (SMS).
“PERS berfungsi menggunakan talian Streamyx dan disambung terus ke bilik gerakan Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontingen (IPK) Kuala Lumpur serta sistem Mengarah, Mengawal, Komunikasi, Koordinasi dan Maklumat (C4I) milik PDRM,” katanya.
Beliau yakin polis dapat bertindak lebih pantas kerana ujian dilakukan sebelum ini mendapati masa dicatat boleh dikurangkan hampir 50 peratus untuk sampai ke lokasi,” katanya.
Majlis pelancaran PERS di Jalan Sultan Ismail, Bukit Bintang itu dilakukan Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Omar.
Musa berkata, kiosk PERS diwujudkan di Bukit Bintang, manakala dua lagi di Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman dan Jalan P Ramlee sedang dibina.
“Projek perintis itu akan dinilai kemampuan dalam tempoh tiga bulan dan diperluaskan ke negeri lain jika berkesan,” katanya.
Difahamkan, PERS adalah buatan tempatan dan kos penyediaannya di antara RM30,000 hingga RM40,000 seunit. Jepun adalah negara pertama di Asia menggunakannya dan Malaysia adalah negara Asean pertama memasang alat berkenaan.

Mat Rempit To Save The Day

It's confirmed. Our country is going crazy when we have politician glorifying street racing and planning to legalise it and turning it into a tourist attraction. Here's an extract from the NST report.
While it is commendable for the Umno groups to engage with them (Mat Rempit) in the hope that they would discard their bad attitude and return to do more beneficial things in life, I find it difficult to understand Putera Umno head Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim's stand on this issue.
A report in this paper yesterday quoted him as suggesting that the street races of these Mat Rempit should be legalised and turned into tourist attractions. "In Kuala Lumpur, many roads are closed for night markets and other activities. Why can't we close the roads for our Mat Rempit once a week?" he asked, adding that Malaysia should capitalise on what was unique to it.Unique?!?!? Are you serious?? What is so unique about street racing that other parts of the world don't have? I find it really absurd to be reading such ridiculous suggestion being put forth and this only reflects the level of 'intelligence' this people have. It seems to me like every single thing, be it legal or not, has the potential to be turned into a tourist attraction. Everything is boleh in our Bolehland. Come on, gimme a break!! Who wants to see a bunch of low life racing down the streets at break-neck speed with their modified kup chai (low cc bikes)?? What is so fun and attractive about that? I reckon it would deter more than attract. It's bad enough that we have errant drivers on road and now they want to legalise street racing. I really don't give a damn if they want to waste their lives pulling some stupid stunts on road but don't come scratching and crashing into my precious car. My car is worth more than their lives!!!!I'm speechless. All I can say is Majukanlah Lumba Haram Untuk Negara.

APA yang ingin dibuktikan kumpulan remaja yang memperjudikan nyawa sendiri di litar lumba haram setiap malam terutama di hujung minggu?
Apakah kepuasan yang mereka cari? Adakah habuan wang, sorakan penonton atau bermalam di lokap.Cuma yang nyata, setiap malam minggu di laluan tertentu di ibu kota pasti bingit dengan deruman motosikal serta aksi gila penunggangnya yang langsung tidak mempedulikan nyawa sendiri atau orang lain.Golongan Mat Rempit tidak pernah serik, walaupun ditahan polis, terbabit dalam kemalangan, dijatuhi hukuman oleh mahkamah atau melihat rakan ‘seperjuangan’ maut di depan mata.Mereka terus mahu menjadi raja di jalan raya dan terus angkuh memperlihatkan aksi akrobatik seperti dirasuk syaitan.

Sesetengah daripada mereka pula mengambil dadah jenis syabu bagi menimbulkan perasaan berani malah diperoleh dengan mudah daripada penaja lumba haram.Paling menyedihkan, golongan berani mati ini terdiri daripada remaja masih bersekolah hinggalah remaja berusia awal 20-an yang bakal menerajui negara.Kegilaan itu berlaku hampir di semua negeri di negara ini. Sama ada di kawasan bandar hingga ke kampung, suasana hening malam minggu bising dengan deruman motosikal.Di Negeri Sembilan contohnya, Jalan Senawang-Paroi yang dikenali sebagai ‘Litar Seri Pagi’ menjadi pilihan utama kumpulan Mat Rempit untuk menunjukkan aksi gila dan bahaya terutama pada malam minggu.Malah keadaan jalan yang lurus itu turut dikatakan menjadi ‘litar utama’ sejak kebelakangan ini, selain dapat menghimpunkan ratusan kaki rempit.Tinjauan mendapati kira-kira 100 remaja berusia belasan dan awal 20 tahun terutama pekerja kilang menjadikan laluan itu sebagai tempat lepas gian untuk berlumba dan menunjukkan kehebatan masing-masing.Walaupun polis kerap menjalankan operasi di laluan itu, namun Litar Seri Pagi tetap menjadi pilihan Mat Rempit.

Apa yang membimbangkan, kegiatan itu dikatakan bukan saja disertai pekerja kilang dan penganggur malah pelajar sekolah dan penghantar cepat turut terbabit melepaskan gian memecut.Walaupun pihak berkuasa seperti polis dan Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) sering membuat pemantauan dan operasi namun golongan ini tidak pernah gentar.Lebih membimbangkan, kegiatan curi motosikal bagi mendapatkan komponen dan jentera lumba bagi diubahsuai semakin menjadi-jadi.Seperti berpegang kepada matlamat menghalalkan cara, ada antara mereka bertindak agresif memecah masuk ke perkarangan rumah untuk mencuri motosikal.Bagaimana perkara ini berlaku sedangkan semua pihak bermula daripada kerajaan sehingga Pertubuhan Bukan Kerajaan (NGO) sering mengambil tindakan proaktif untuk membendung dan menyedarkan belia mengenai bahaya perilaku itu.

Statistik kematian membabitkan penunggang motosikal sepanjang tahun lalu juga menakutkan apabila mencatat 57.9 peratus berbanding 20 peratus pemandu kereta dan 9.7 peratus pejalan kaki.Seksyen 42 Akta Pengangkutan Jalan (APJ) 1987 turut memperuntukkan kesalahan lumba haram kali pertama boleh dijatuhkan hukuman maksimum penjara lima tahun dan denda maksimum RM15,000 atau kedua-duanya manakala jika melakukannya buat kali kedua penjara maksimum 10 tahun dijatuhkan dan denda RM20,000 atau kedua-duanya sekali.Malah, penonton lumba haram serta penaja juga boleh dikenakan hukuman berat menerusi pindaan Seksyen 81 APJ.

Mudah-mudahan dengan pemgemblingan semua pihak dalam menangani gejala ini akan akan menghapuskan apa yang dikatakan "Mat Rempit"

SAY NO TO "MAT REMPIT"

Lately our local newspaper are reporting news about so called Mat Rempit invading our nation highways and roads. Mat Rempit itself is a term given to them as “illegal street racers). I’m sure almost 99% of th publics wanted to get them off the roads. This is no longer called as “sports” where they are not racing only but pulling dangerous stunts on the road. Some of the articels or user posted at blog.thestar.com.my which “support” them by saying giving them an ear, Mat Rempits know how to take care themselves or even Mat Rempits themselves voicing their “DEMANDS” !! All are just bullshit to me…Mat Rempits are giving lame, yeah i really mean LAME excuses for example, the fees at current racing track expensive to them, tracks are too far from city, or even try to prove that they’re not society trash by saying some of them even HAD foreign degress!! OMG!!
Mat Rempit says clearly that they WONT STOP unless the government need to legitimise their “sports” and build tracks for them.

Ops Sikap 9 has recorded an increase in the number of road accidents.

There were 18 fatalities out of 790 cases reported.
Since the Ops Sikap 9 was implemented on the 27th October, 145 fatalities were recorded.
Bukit Aman spokesperson said, out of 790 accidents, 55 cases occurred on highways, 295 on Federal Roads, 168 on State Roads and 219 on Municipal Roads.
Federal Roads has once more recorded the highest number of fatalities, eight deaths from five accidents.
Another six fatalities were recorded on State Roads, one on Municipal Road and 3 on other roads.
Most of the victims were motorcyclists which recorded nine fatalities, followed by three fatalities involving motorists and three fatalities involving car passengers.
Other deaths involved four wheel drive, pillion rider, cyclists and pedestrian.

Due to high tax structure in Malaysia, many of working class people in Malaysia opt to drive small cc bikes since early 70s. Boon Siew Honda was the pionieer by assembling Honda C50 cub. Due to cheap maintainance, majority of Malaysian people choose to own at least a small bike or we call it ‘kap chai’. It is local slanga for small bikes in Malaysia.
Mat Rempit, is a term for a society that use public roads for illegal racing using those small bikes. The most popular bike is off course the all legendary Yamaha RX-Z 135cc. Brought in to Malaysia since 1983 by Yamaha Motor and until now, it is the most popular choice by the Mat Rempits.
The society grows bigger and bigger each day, and the lucrative market offered by thic niche society makes them very popular for newspaper coverage and the latest addition, featured in cinema.
There’s was a number of movies about Mat Rempit and the success rate is high.
KL Menjerit 1 featuring Yamaha TZM 150 as main character and KL Menjerit 2 featured even more bikes such as TZM 150, RX-Z 135 and the legendary old school TZR 125.
The newest addition to movie scene is REMP-it and early prediction for this movie is, it’s gonna be hit as they portray the real life of a real Mat Rempit.

Mini XC90

THE Volvo XC90 sports utility vehicle can easily seat five persons comfortably and Volvo Cars has come out with a mini version.

But hang on, this mini variant is not exactly the compact SUV you would expect, but is so small that you won't be able to get your foot inside.

Actually, this little car is a radio-controlled 1:5 scale model of the XC90 and runs on batteries.

It may not be for off-roading trips for the whole family but specially built for transporting and retrieving javelins, hammers or discuses at the
European Athletics Championships in
Gothenburg.

Although having only two horsepower compared with 272bhp for the full-sized XC90 T6, the mini XC90 will still get the job done.

Two hammers alone will weigh 14kgs and the mini XC90 when fully loaded can scamper over the grasses at the Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg at a speed of 20kph.

However, Volvo Cars does not have any plans to mass produce the mini XC90.

Only four hand-made units were made on electrically driven chassis developed by the Nordic Sport company. Sigh!

Looks like radio-controlled car enthusiasts who want the mini XC90s have to look elsewhere.

Rain had set in & was laying on the track this morning as the GP2 Sprint race in Budapest started behind a safety car. Jose Maria Lopez set off from an encouraging pole position but this was quickly snatched from him when he spun off in the wet on his opening lap, damaging the front and rear wing & suspension. Unfortunately this was just the beginning of Super Nova’s disastrous day, as team mate Fairuz Fauzy followed suit and after 8 laps, slipped off the track and caused damage to the 6 Super Nova car. BUYING GUIDE

Decide on your budget.
Car price, monthly commitments, road tax and insurance.

Know the vehicle's market value.
Thumb through the sections of Motor Trader and get a fairly good idea.note extras or equipment level. Values may vary accordingly.

Ring up.
Determine the vehicle mileage, age, condition, service record and specification.

Bring along a friend to view vehicle.
Always inspect vehicle in daylight. Make sure you are comfortable driving it. Listen for rattles and unusual sounds. Check exhaust for excessive smoke and see that all electrical equipment works properly.

Classics still look good at KLIMS 2006

To almost everyone, the KL International Motor Show 2006 (KLIMS 2006) would be about the latest and greatest cars and certainly, there are many to view. However, those who appreciate the older generation of cars will also be delighted to discover a collection of Classic Cars on one side of Level 3 of the Putra World Trade Centre, where the motorshow is on until June 4 2006.

Here, visitors can admire ten well-maintained models from the 1960s and 1970s (a few are older too) and for many, they should bring back memories of their childhood days. Perhaps they saw such cars on KL roads occasionally and dreamed that one day, they too could be behind the wheel of such beauties.

For instance, there’s a Jaguar E-Type on display and this uniquely-shaped sportscar was a legendary model in the history of British sportscars. Its sleek design was advanced for that time and needless to say, so was the performance.

Another Jaguar on display is the Mark II, which was the preferred limousine of British aristocrats (while the Rovers were the choice of the government servants). The Jaguar on display had a 2.4-litre engine with six cylinders.

The MG TD also on display is the epitome of the British roadster, the sort of car which was born for the winding country roads, wind in the hair driving. By today’s standards, the leafspring suspension would seem too simple for a sportscar but back then, it gave the handling ‘character’!

Also part of the historic display are some old motorcycles… the sort that made loud noises and had names like Norton and Triumph. They were produced in the era before the Japanese motorcycles, led by Honda, appeared and then took over the world of two wheels.

After appreciating the cars of the past, you can pop into a hall on the Ground Floor where there is the ‘Wonders on Wheels’ exhibition where you will find cars from Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Lamborghini and Bentley in one room. It’s very rare to have such a collection but thanks to Naza World, the organizers of KLIMS 2006 have been able to offer this treat to the public.

Lower price for Mitsubishi Lancer

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has lowered the price of its Lancer Sedan model by 2% following a revision in the tax structure for 2006. Customers can now enjoy a reduction of RM2,000 when they purchase the standard 1.6-litre Mitsubishi Lancer model at RM97,425.30 (on-the-road price, without insurance).
MMM CEO Fumihiko Minami said being a relatively new player in the local automotive industry, the company wished to demonstrate its long-term commitment in Malaysia. He said that buyers who had booked their new vehicles but yet to register would also enjoy the new price.
The prices for the Mitsubishi Grandis MPV, Outlander SUV, Colt compact 5-door, Evolution IX and the L200 pick-up truck will be maintained for now. Other than the L200 pick-up which comes from Thailand, all the present range of Mitsubishi models distributed by MMM are completely built-up (CBU) imports from Japan.
